Questo è tutto quello che possiamo sapere di Gaufrido che egli in Bologna insegnasse retorica, come affermano gli eruditi non e accertato: ma dall'essere la sua Ars dictaminis indirizzata agli studenti e terminata dal saluto affettuoso a Bologna possiamo argomentare che, se non vi insegnò, dovette certamente avere qualche relazione coll'università bolognese.
